Golden Ticket

Golden Ticket

The lottery reached an all time high this year. People who never buy tickets went down to the corner store, pulled out a few bills, and took home their lucky card.

What would you do if you won the lottery? Would you:

a.    Quit your job
b.    Buy a house (or ten) in cash
c.    Pay off your debt
d.    Go to therapy
e.    Get massaged daily
f.    Support a charity

The real question that arises ~ would your happiness factor shift? Can money really buy happiness? If you became a millionaire overnight, I’d bet you’d be pretty darn happy. At least for some amount of time. But after the high wore off, at the end of the day, we still have our body, our mind, the story and a vision for our life.

Money isn’t the only currency to cultivate. Generosity, love, compassion to self and other ~ all these are kinds of wealth. Giving a compliment, offering a smile, donating a shirt embodies a basic sense of richness.

What if I told you today was your lucky day? Imagine the numbers were drawn and the winner is you. You’ve won 640 million moments. How will you spend it? You wouldn’t burn a 100$ bill. Why would you throw away your fortune on worry, fear, or regret? Invest your wealth in the most precious thing you have, this very moment, these people who surround you even now, this human body.
