Original Mother

This Mother’s Day we’re celebrating all mothers ~ both the person that gave us life and the principle of motherhood in our day to day.
Let’s reflect on that special lady who brought you into this world. Mom went through a bit of an ordeal to have you. Yes, childhood comes with a lot of I wish I could have… and why didn’t I… for a lot of us. Still, giving birth to you wasn’t easy. And for a minute—heck, for the whole day—let’s just give thanks for doing a miraculous thing here. Thank you for giving you and me the opportunity to live a free life. Thank you.
The act of conception is the greatest creative project I can imagine; but, it doesn’t exclude the rest of us who aren’t creating little ones. Motherhood is a nurturing guidance for our own lives. This role brings about a persistence, protectiveness, and resourcefulness to do what needs to be done. One of the great lessons of the mother archetype is the process of empowering and releasing.
This includes you. Whether or not you have children or have one on the way, celebrate this Mother’s Day. Acknowledge and reward your efforts of creation.
Nurture the creative, the expectant, and the process oriented in your own unique life. On this Mother’s Day, give gratitude to what is taking shape within you now. Celebrate with a home-cooked meal or a warm oil self-massage or a love letter of appreciation for your path in life. You are tending to something deep and your ability to respond is your responsibility.
