From Denmo's Kitchen: Turmeric Ginger Smoothie

I woke up dreaming of turmeric and her radiance this rainy morning. So I came up with a way to fold her into my morning smoothie and I'll be damned, I think she LOVED it. Turmeric has been a long time friend and I'm stoked that I found a new way to integrate her in my day.

This morning smoothie is naturally sweet but not too sweet and uber therapeutic. Turmeric is known to detox liver, aid digestion, rejuvenate skin, alleviate pain, and support metabolism. Raw pumpkin seeds are the highest alkaline forming seeds and rich in L-tryptophan, the turkey drug, which supports good sleep and lowers depression. And ginger root gives it a warm uplifting spice that keeps your mind bright and alert.

If you don't want the full fiber of the recipe, you can juice the carrots and apple or nix the flax but I went for it all and loved it. Tastes like a creamy orange sorbet. Feels like the first day of fall.

Turmeric Ginger Smoothie

  • 2 carrots
  • 1 apple (peeled, cored)
  • 1 cup pineapple
  • 2 inches of ginger root (peeled)
  • 1 inch turmeric root (peeled)
  • 2 tbls pumpkin seeds (shelled, unsalted, unroasted)
  • 2 tbls tahini
  • 1 tbls flax meal
  • 1 1/2 cups almond milk


Blend in vitamix. Pour and sprinkle ground ginger on top. Serves 2.
